The goal of Lawrenceburg Swim Team is to offer every child a safe and fun swim environment. In order to do so, we have implemented the following guidelines:
Absolutely no diving or jumping in the shallow end of the pool. Swimmers must enter the shallow end of the pool by sitting on the edge of the pool and enter feet first or by using the steps.
No running on the pool deck, bleachers, or in the locker rooms.
No pushing or shoving in or out of the pool.
No hanging on other swimmers in the pool or holding other swimmers under the water.
When diving off the blocks or diving board, make certain all other swimmers are clear of the area that you are diving into.
No horseplay on the blocks.
Pay attention to your coach. To ensure that you get the most out of practice, please do not be playing under the water while she or he is talking to your group.
Arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start of your practice time. All swimmers should be ready to start practice by the start of their scheduled practice time. Once dressed, swimmers should be seated in the bleachers until the coach is ready for your group.
No food is permitted in the bleachers. Water is the only drink permitted in the bleachers.
Each swimmer should bring a sports drink or water to re-hydrate during practice.
Swimmers need to return their equipment to the equipment room after practice.
No hanging on the lane lines.
Arrive at swim meets no later than 20 minutes before the scheduled warm-up times. More information to follow.
Vandalism at LHS will not be permitted.
The most important word in Lawrenceburg Swim Team is the word Team. Swimmers are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times. Encourage your teammates at practices and meets. It is important to remember that you represent our team and should always show respect not only your team members but to other team members as well.
Disciplinary Actions
If at anytime a swimmer is found not following one or more guidelines, the following disciplinary actions will take place:
First offense- Verbal warning
Second offense- Sit out 10 minutes of practice
Third offense- Conference with parent(s)
Fourth offense- 1 practice suspension
Fifth offense- Possible dismissal from the team
Parent Guidelines Parents are welcome to watch their swimmer(s) practice. However parents must remain seated in the bleachers during practice. This is not only a team rule but a USA Swim rule. Comments and concerns are welcome. If you need to speak to your swimmer’s coach, please do not do this during practice times. To be fair to all of the swimmers we do not want the coach distracted during practice times. Please speak to the coach before or after practice. There will be times when you feel like your swimmer is not being focused on. Remember that you are most likely watching only your swimmer while the coach is watching the entire pool. The coaching staff will do their best to give each swimmer instruction at different times during practice. No coaching from the stands. Please let the coaching staff do the coaching. Be supportive of your swimmer and remember that no swimmer sets out to have a bad race. Even Michael Jordan had off games. Do not compare your swimmer to other swimmers. Every swimmer progresses at their own rate. The slowest swimmer in a race today could be the fastest in 1 year! No food or drinks in the stands. Water only. Show good sportsmanship toward all swimmers, coaching staff, & parents. Have your swimmer(s) at practice no later than 15 minutes prior to their practice times. Parent involvement is the key to a successful program. Lawrenceburg Swim Team is a coach ran, parent supported team. It takes approximately 30 parents to run a home meet and 5 to work at away meets. Please get involved!
